Text Recognition for 2D Bridge Plans Using OCR‐Algorithms

Abstract The 2D bridge plans play an essential role in renovations or new replacements of transport infrastructures. As indispensable component plans, text serves as dimension labels, descriptions materials, etc. Optical Character Recognition (OCR) can convert image into machine‐encoded format, and has high potential invaluable practical worth for analyzing, managing, extracting textual information from plans. First, the selection OCR‐algorithms sampling fragments including historic with handwritten digital printed text, was carried out. Subsequently, performances different open‐source on are compared. In this process, accuracy at character level word chosen two main factors to evaluate their performances. Finally, most recognition proposed.
